Mantis version 2.0 Released
The latest version of the Mantis Operator Interface software has been tested proven and released.
The new version incorporates as a standard, two user programmable relay outputs instead of one. The two relays are assignable to no-reads, no-match or other user definable events. Both relays are programmable for a delay and duration. The relays are configurable for normally open or normally closed and can supply 24v to external devices such as diverters, conveyor stops and PLC inputs.
Mantis Operator Interface version 2.0 also supports new methods to “teach” as many as four match codes. Serial data messages at RS232 signal levels sent to the Mantis Operator Interface can now be used. Teach methods also supported include “show and go”, command codes and hand scanning.
Lastly, Mantis version 2.0 can be used to verify products that do not contain a machine readable symbol such as a bar code. From the main menu, setting the no-read counter to 0, will enable the Mantis Operator Interface to accept all no-reads and will set off alarms only if a bar code is read. For contract packagers who may run products with or without a bar code, the Mantis checks that a production run of an item without a bar code does not contain any products with a bar code. If a product is found to have a bar code present when the no-read counter is set to 0; audible, visual and control line alarms are made.
The Mantis Operator Interface, introduced in 2002, is installed in many diverse applications in the food, beverage, pharmaceutical and material handling industries. With dozens of units installed, the Mantis Operator Interface is a field tested and proven method for 100% unattended verification of the readability and correctness of machine readable symbols such as bar codes.
